Taste of Monroeville

The Monroeville/Monroe County Chamber of Commerce will host the annual Taste of Monroeville food festival scheduled for Thursday, November 14, 2019 at the Monroeville Community House. Tickets are on sale now through Chamber board of directors, the Chamber office and The Bird’s Nest Gift Shop at the Monroe County Museum.
Proceeds from this event will go towards the Monroe County Animal Shelter and other quality of life projects.
The Taste of Monroeville, beginning at 6 p.m., is a ticketed event offering a variety of food and drink booths from local caterers, restaurants and community organizations. Entertainment will be provided by the Poarch Ninjas band which specializes in blues, bluegrass and Americana music.
A $30 ticket includes six tear-off tickets good for six booth visits, and two drink tickets. Ticket holders may use their tickets at different vendors or they may use all with one vendor. Drink tickets are good for wine and beer. Soft drinks and tea will also be available.
The Chamber is encouraging local restaurants, chefs and community organizations to participate in the event as food vendors. Vendors will receive a portion of the profits; for each tear-off ticket redeemed at a respective booth, the organization/vendor will receive $1 back. Registration forms are available at the Chamber office and on www.monroecountyal.com.
Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Penelope Hines remarked, “It is important that we are inviting the community organizations to participate and that we are giving back some of the revenue. The Monroe County Animal Shelter is always in great need of support, and I am happy that our proceeds will benefit such a worthy cause this year as well as other quality of life projects.”
Prizes will be awarded in the following three categories: Best Taste of Monroeville, Professional (for restaurants or licensed caterers); Best Taste of Monroeville, Amateur (for community organizations, nonprofits or individuals); Best Dessert, Professional; Best Dessert, Amateur, and Best Presentation.
